EduKit Security and Data Protection

I. Why does EduKit need to access student data from schools?

Access is required in order for the EduKit Insight platform to function. By accessing data in your MIS, your school staff can analyse and compare data based on any student data fields such as Year group, FSM status, Gender, ethnicity amongst others. One of our main aims is to save teacher time and as such it’s important to access this data in order to avoid unnecessary manual data entry.

II. What security arrangements are in place?

EduKit considers the security of data to be of the upmost importance. As such, we have worked with the UK data protection authority, the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), to ensure our policies and practices are compliant with all relevant data protection laws and meet and exceed best practice.

1. The data is held in data centres in Ireland and does not leave the EU, ensuring that it is subject the European legal regime that has some of the strictest data protection laws in the world. The data is held on Amazon Web Servers, who offer military grade security.  Please see for further information on data storage.

2. The data is encrypted as it is transferred to EduKit, and when we transfer data to our database the appropriate fields are also encrypted.

3. We adhere to rigorous security standards and endeavour to carry out full system penetration testing once a quarter.

NB:  EduKit is registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO)

We hope that this overview provides you an added level of comfort that your data is being handled securely and legally as a result of working with EduKit.

Please refer to the EduKit Insight Terms of Service for further detail on our security arrangements and our data collection processes:

Transparency and openness are core values at EduKit. As such, please feel free to contact our team should you have any questions whatsoever about how we hold or process data from your school. We are always available to answer any questions that you may have.
